Nice Road 400 Aluminum External Pinion Gear

Nice PMD0177A.460 is the original aluminum external pinion gear (pinion) at the center of the drive mechanism in Nice Robus 400 and Nice Road 400 series sliding gate motors. This gear is mounted on the motor output shaft, rolls along the rack rail, and converts the rotary motion of the electric motor into the linear translational motion of the gate. Featuring a Module 4 tooth profile, this aluminum alloy pinion offers lower weight compared to standard steel gears while providing high mechanical strength. Due to heavy use, insufficient lubrication, or rack misalignment, the tooth profile may wear over time; this causes slip, vibration, and slide fault alarms, disrupting the functionality of the gate automation system. When such symptoms are observed, replacing the gear as soon as possible extends the service life of the motor and rack system.

Replacing this gear is of INTERMEDIATE difficulty. The old part is removed by loosening the fixing screws and shaft locking nut that secure the pinion gear to the motor shaft; the new gear is installed in the same position. However, correctly setting the tooth backlash between the gear and the rack after installation is critically important: if the clearance is too tight, excessive mechanical load occurs; if too loose, vibration and noise will result. Therefore, in addition to basic hand tools, a certain level of technical knowledge and care is required.
